Digital Teaware

Share

Digital Teaware was designed while on a 12 week internship with Tim Regan from Microsoft Research Cambridge. It was a response to my engagement with residents and staff of a care home in the South of England. Decorative lustre on the Teaware senses the cups movement on the saucer and causes words to subtly appear at different location on the table cloth. The words are taken from people’s reminiscences and poems, which combine to provide a variety of rich descriptions for personal and shared interpretation. If the conversation goes quiet people are then able to gently conjure up conversation by subtly moving their tea cup on the saucer.
